are o ered by BAPWC providers. These are open to the community.

Expressive Arts for Health
|
The Expressive Arts for Health program offers a variety of services that include ongoing art therapy support groups and visual journaling workshops. In addition, this FRP program spearheads events designed to foster a social community for our patients. In collaboration with Local Art Schools. We now provide classes for those who wish to develop their artistic ability in a studio setting.

The Expressive Arts for Health Class:
These classes offer a variety of expressive art services that include art therapy support groups, visual journalizing workshops and an open art studio. In addition, the classes spearhead art-involved events designed to foster a social community.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
|
The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction
is designed to help people learn how to deal effectively with physical and emotional stresses. Through learning relaxation and awareness practices, participants
are taught to use their inner resources to relieve stress and manage pain more effectively.
Dates: Sept. 28 - Nov. 23, 2011, No class Oct. 19th
Times: 5:30-7:30 p.m., Wednesday evenings
Retreat date: Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.
Required pre-registration: Fee - $199
Included class materials: "Guided Mindfulness Meditations" CD and MBSR workbook
Results after the program:
Majority of participants who complete the program report: • Decreased physical & psychological symptoms • Increased ability to cope with stressful situations • Improved self-esteem • Greater energy • Improved pain levels or coping with chronic pain • More skillful communication

Stress Reduction
This lecture teaches the difference between an acute and chronic stress response. You will also learn stress management techniques such as breathing and mindfulness meditation. And we will also help you answer the now infamous question; why don’t zebras get ulcers?
Schedule: Once a month, Fee: $10 per lecture
About the instructor: Shaylin Ebert, Shaylin is a behavior specialist, therapist, and wellness teacher for the Bay Area Pain and Wellness Center. She earned her B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Religious Studies from North Central College in 2005, and subsequently her M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University in 2008. Shaylin Ebert
Shaylin Ebert is a behavior specialist, therapist, and wellness teacher for the Bay Area Pain and Wellness Center. She earned her B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Religious Studies from North Central College in 2005, and subsequently her M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University in 2008. Deeply moved both personally and professionally by mindbody practices and their potential to spur profound healing, Shaylin makes it a point to integrate these practices into all that she does.
Along with her ongoing personal practice of meditation and yoga, Shaylin has done extensive professional trainings in mindfulness meditation. She has participated in a training with Drs Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli, the founders of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and done many residential meditation retreats.
She has also done academic research with Dr. Shauna Shapiro, a leading researcher and teacher of mindfulness, on the effects of mindfulness meditation at Santa Clara University. Shaylin hopes to mindfully engage with clients and empower them to improve their own health and well-being.

This is an eight-week course teaching the principles of mindfulness meditation to reduce stress and increase overall levels of mental and physical health.

Back on Track

Back on Track
After care program structured to enforce independence for graduates outside of workers compensation. Mainly focuses on circuit training to reinforce proper pacing and flare up management in combination with complete body work out.

This class is spefically targeted for FRP graduates. It is one hour of full body circut training with pacing and flare up management integrated into the exercises. It is a way to maintain progress, continue to progress and decrease the possiblity or the risk of recidivism.
